Re Mary Radcliffe's letter (EA March 9).

Whatever one's political persuasion, the BNP does have its use in society.

Namely, to act as a barometer; a warning sign if you like, of which the likes of Anthony Blair and his gang of ex-public school chums, who think they know what's best for Britain, should take heed.

After all, the representatives of the Weimar republic thought that they too could keep the lid on Hitler.
