A POOR first-half effort cost Wootton Bassett dear as they went down 19-12 to Redingensians in Southern Counties South.
Bassett trailed by 19 points at the interval, but the secong half was one-way traffic in their favour, centre Mike Dixon touching down and Sean Millwaters also crossing for a superb score.
BASSETT were well represented in the Dorset & Wilts under 20s side that defeated Buckinghamshire 34-20 at Bournemouth.
Led by former Bassett wing Dave Martin, current Stoneover Lane youngster Neil Smith scored two tries.
Sam and Duncan Fulling, plus Mike Dixon were also on the scoresheet, as well as Marlborough's Trevor Clarkson.
Bassett's third string claimed a 48-12 Dorset & Wilts Two North triumph over Supermarine, for whom skipper Andy Uzzell and young talent Gareth Hollis scored tries and Lee Ruddle, in his first game for Marine at senior level, struck an excellent conversion from the touchline.
Calne's lack of confidence and discipline cost them dearly as Weymouth picked up their first Dorset & Wilts One points of the season with a 23-17 win.
Captain Mike Charlwood's team failed to function early on, although a crucial disallowed try for Graeme Neale proved decisive.
Fijian ace Semesi scored one of the Calne touchdowns, Trev Wicks adding another.
Vice-captain Alan Wicks said: "We basically handed the game to Weymouth due to lack of discipline.
"But they did deserve to win to be honest."
MARLBOROUGH kept their Dorset & Wilts Two North title hopes alive with a 11-10 win over third-placed Hungerford, the same scoreline as they defeated leaders Cricklade by three weeks earlier.
Again kicker Tom Payne was the hero, as Marlborough avenged their 34-0 humiliation from the second game of the season.
Hungerford scored an early try, but flanker Kevin Clancy levelled.
Payne was then on target with a superb penalty against the wind for an 8-5 half-time lead. He added another in the second half, and although Hungerford scored a second try again unconverted to set up a tense finale.
CHIPPENHAM 3rd recovered from a 19-0 half-time deficit, but still lost out 29-12 to their Keynsham counterparts.
Three first-half tries put the Bristol side in control before Paul Bates' chip allowed Ben Chamberlain to score.
A late consolation try followed from Peter Gingell converted by the boot of Ceri Morris.
