A CAT was revived by firefighters after it was trapped in a burning house in Wootton Bassett.
Meko, a three-year-old Persian cross, had to be rescued from a house in Noremarsh Road around midnight on Friday.
Three people had escaped the house after flames engulfed the living and dining rooms.
Fire engines from Wootton Bassett and Westlea fire stations were at the scene within 10 minutes and when the 43-year-old owner of the house realised her cat was missing, firefighters rescued him from the conservatory at the back of the house.
He was given oxygen and checked over by a surgeon from the George Veterinary Practice, in the High Street.
He is now being cared for by The Wootton Bassett branch of Cats Protection until his home is cleaned up.
The fire was believed to have been caused by candle wax dripping on to paper.
The house was severely damaged by smoke but the fire was restricted to the ground floor.
