Ref. 29524-75"WALKIES" became "dancies" for Swindon dogs at the weekend as they learned to walk to heel to music with the help of Crufts expert Mary Ray.

Mary visited the Raleigh Dogs Club at Freshbrook Community Centre on Saturday and 12 hounds were soon niftier on their paws.

Three weeks ago, Mary appeared on Channel Four's Faking It, teaching a dog how to heel to the Match of the Day theme tune.

Club instructor Mollie Edwards was delighted to see Mary at the club and so were the dogs.

Mollie, 63, of South Marston, said: "Mary was great with the dogs.

"She taught us how to teach the dogs different routines and then we put them together ourselves."

Mollie worked with her two border collies, Ruby and Bell, both of whom apparently took to Mary's routines well.

Mollie said: "Ruby can do a kind of Moonwalk, which I'm impressed with, and Bell can dance on her hind legs."

There were a wide variety of dogs at the workshop ranging from Shetland sheep dogs to golden retrievers.

Mary Ray has previously instructed dogs who have won obedience awards at Crufts. She is due to return to the Raleigh Dogs Club in Swindon later in the year. The club meets on Fridays and Saturdays to do agility and obedience classes. Workshops are usually taken by Mollie, who is a qualified dog trainer.
