SCHOOLCHILDREN in Swindon are being invited to go along to Europe's largest airshow for free this summer.
Up to 20,000 young people will be guests of the RAF, Navy and Army at the Armed Forces youth day at Fairford, on July 16 before the Royal International Air Tattoo.
The aim of the event is to give young people a taste of career opportunities available in the Armed Forces.
Pupils and members of the three services' cadet organisations will be able to meet a variety of service personnel, get close to many of the display aircraft and watch a five-hour air display, including The Red Arrows.
There will also be the chance to experience aircraft, tank and boat simulators and meet war veterans.
Group Captain Dawn McCafferty, the head of recruiting for the RAF, said: "Last year's event attracted more than 13,000 pupils and cadets.
"Invitations are being sent to secondary schools and cadet groups around the country and we hope teachers will see it as both an entertaining and informative day out for their pupils."
The tattoo is due to take place on July 17/18. To find out more about the show visit www.airtattoo.com
