SHOULD a Town Clerk not know his town? Highworth's Dave Lane suggests in EA March 6, that Highworth skaters should build their skatepark in the field north of Crane Furlong, which, he states would be ideal away from houses and in an area where children play.
What he is overlooking is the approach to this paradise. Either straight down Lechlade Road, which is busy 24 hours a day, which has already experienced the fatality of a skateboarder.
Or via Folly/Henley Drive into Crane Furlong, the entrance to which is a short very steep hill to an extremely dangerous junction, when taken at speed. From there, there are two choices: left turn and enter the field along a path at the back of bungalows, currently overgrown through lack of use or turn right onto Lechlade Road and along the footpath leading into Blackwell Trading Estate.
I suggest a site visit and a re-think.
