Only three members of the public attended a consultation meeting over the future of maternity and outpatient services in North Wiltshire last week.
The meeting was held by Kennet and North Wiltshire Primary Care Trust in Calne Town Hall.
The PCT is planning to close Malmesbury and Devizes maternity units and cut outpatient clinics in Malmesbury. Consultation meetings are being held at all the towns under the trust. Also, only two people attended a meeting in Pewsey last Tuesday evening.
Jenny Edwards, head of patient and public involvement said the people at the Calne meeting commented on the quality of care they received from Malmesbury maternity unit.
Despite the low numbers Mrs Edwards said she thought they had publicised the meeting well.
"We want to reach plenty of people to get a representative view," she said.
But only one out of eight Calne town councillors contacted by the Gazette knew the meeting was taking place.
Over the next month the PCT will be addressing district council area committees in the evenings, which the public will be able to attend.
The dates of these meetings are as follows: Pewsey Local Strategic Partnership, Wootton Rivers Village Hall, today, 7pm; Devizes Community Area Forum, Council Chamber, Browfort, Devizes, Monday, 7pm; North Wiltshire District Council Area 2 Committee Meeting, Purton Village Hall, Wednesday, April 7, 7pm; Kennet and North Wiltshire Health Scrutiny Panel, Council Chamber, Browfort, Devizes, Friday, April 16, 2.30pm; Area 3, Council Offices, Monkton Park, Chippenham, Monday, April 19, 7pm; Area 5, Calne Town Hall, Tuesday April 20, 7pm.
