Ref. 12503/2Two schools joined forces to stage a fundraising fashion show this week to help buy new play equipment. Lea and Garsdon Primary School and St Joseph's School in Malmesbury teamed up on Monday in the Lea school hall to strut along the catwalk.

Mothers and children modelled the clothes, which were end-of-lines or seconds, from leading high street stores including Next, BHS, Mothercare and Debenhams.

The event was run by Salisbury company Just A Second and all the clothes were sold at discount prices.

Vanessa Dunne, chairman of the Lea Parent Teacher Association said: "We were very keen to run a fashion show which we thought would be popular with parents but ours is a small school. To ensure we got a good-sized audience we approached St Joseph's to ask if they were interested in joining in."

Marianne Hofstra of St Joseph's PTA said the two schools had split the workload equally and would also split the profits.

Both schools are raising money for playground improvements. St Joseph's wants a climbing wall and trim trail and Lea and Garsdon School is raising funds for outdoor play equipment.

"We really enjoyed collaborating with another school and we may be able to work together on future fundraisers," said Mrs Dunne.

The money was raised through an entry fee, a raffle and a commission on clothing sales.

Tickets were sold for £3 each and included a free drink.
