SALISBURY Hurricanes were given a scare by Avonbridge before edging home 5-4 to end their season on a winning note and give title favourites Stonehenge Falcons work to do.

Falcons lie second, but only a point behind and with two games left to gain the one win they need to retain their crown.

Avonbridge's gritty showing was built on three wins with his partners by Stuart Burne. Hurricanes trailed 2-1 after the men's matches but a Nicky Robertson treble helped build a winning lead before Avonbridge took the last two mixed sets.

Burgate A have probably done enough already to gain promotion to Division One for next season, but hopes of taking the Division Two title were dented when losing 5-4 at Wilton A.

It left them only four points ahead of second-placed West Grimstead B who have three matches in hand.

In beating Burgate, Wilton recovered from a 3-0 deficit after the men's matches.

Vicky Edge and Julie Bryant were their leading lights, both winning three times with their respective partners.

Three points from a win at Spire A and a 5-4 defeat at West Tytherley B have eased Laverstock B's relegation fears.

One point from their last three matches will keep them up, with Tytherley B and Wilton B set to drop.

Stonehenge A have won the title in the Men's League.

Two matches remain, but their 100 per cent record means they cannot be caught.
