MID-WILTS YOUTH AND MINOR LEAGUE: WHITE Horse battled against a high wind and driving rain to beat Castle Combe Colts 2-1 in the under 13s Red Division of the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News Mid-Wilts Youth and Minor League.
Olly Wall gave them an early lead and Chris Carter doubled it a few minutes later.
Castle Combe applied more pressure in the second half but the home side defence held fast and the goalkeeper was rarely troubled.
Castle Combe got a goal back halfway through the second half after getting behind the defence to make it 2-1. With ten minutes left Combe were awarded a penalty but the safe hands of goalkeeper Laurence Bromley kept the score at 2-1. White Horse stood their ground for the remainder of the game, nearly clinching a third goal after a chip over the keeper took a cruel bounce and slipped just past the post.
Under 12s Blue Division
DANIEL Moore scored his first goal of the season for Trowbridge Wanderers as they marched on undefeated with an 8-0 home win over Chippenham Town Youth.
Wanderers' other goals came from Joe Stradling and hat-tricks for both Declan Harrison and Ryan Spong.
With the division already won by Wanderers the challenge is on for runners-up position. Castle Combe Colts dented their chances after going down 5-1 at home to Warminster Highbury. Joe Martin (2), Craig Sheppard, Stewart Lisowski and Carl Crabtree scored for Highbury.
Under 12s Red Division
CALNE Town Youth need one point from their remaining two games to clinch the title after their home over FC Chippenham.
After a close first half which finished goal-less, Calne took the game to Chippenham, breaking the deadlock before going on to finish 3-0 victors. M Coulson, M Smart and A Hopwood scored for Calne.
Under 11s Blue Division
MELKSHAM Park's third win on the bounce puts them at the top of the table following their 4-2 home win against Warminster Highbury.
Geracci Guisseppi and Sam McEntee scored for Highbury.
Under 11s Green Division
TROWBRIDGE Wanderers had the better of the first half of their away game against Devizes Town Youth which was end to end but goal-less at the break.
The second half started in the same fashion but quickly changed when Devizes scored three goals in ten minutes. Wanderers never gave up and were rewarded with a late consolation goal. Glynn Rowles (2) and Daniel Case scored for Devizes.
Under 11s Red Division
ALEX Jenkins, Ciaran Stewart and Jon Simpkins scored for Chippenham Town Youth in their 3-0 win over Melksham Park.
Under Nines Green Division
MATTHEW Stevens scored for Calne Town Youth in their 1-1 home draw against Trowbridge Wanderers.
Under 16s Blue Division
BATH Arsenal defended well in the first half of their home game against AFC Corsham with the visitors breaching Bath's defence just once.
Corsham continued to press in the second half making the most of their chances to finish 5-1 winners. Ross Presley scored for Bath Arsenal.
Under 16s Red Division
AN early goal from Gavin Clark gave Trowbridge Town Youth the lead in their home game against Westbury Youth. Late in the first half Westbury brought the game level at 1-1.
Both sides battled to gain advantage in the second half but their defences held to send the sides home with a point each.
Under 15s Red Division
AFC CORSHAM played with the wind in the first half of their game against Lavington Bandits which game them a distinct advantage as Lavington found the ball difficult to clear.
Lavington defended well and at half-time Corsham led 2-0. Corsham defended well in the second half, denying Lavington and pushing forward to score a further four goals to finish 6-0 winners.
Michael Clarke (2), Aaron Neal (3) and Chris Casey scored for Corsham.
Calne Town Youth played host to FC Chippenham, with both looking to finish in the runners up position.
Calne were on top in the first half, taking a 3-1 lead at the break. Calne kept up the pressure, making the most of their chances to take a 6-1 lead midway through the second half.
FC Chippenham remained defiant,.scoring two late goals to take the game to 6-3 and an exciting end to end finish. Chris Mochan (2), Adam Welch (2), Chris Broom and Jamie Davies scored for Calne.
Under 14s Blue Division
TROWBRIDGE Town Youth took the lead against the run of play in their home game against Chippenham Town Youth, with a goal from Craig Sheppard.
Trowbridge defended well throughout the first half but a well taken header from Tom Ingle brought the game level before the break.
Both teams failed to make the most of their chances in the second half and the game ended level at 1-1.
Under 14s Green Division
DEVIZES Blues used the fierce wind to their advantage in the first half against visitors Calne Town Youth and took a 3-0 lead at the interval.
Devizes increased their lead to 5-0 before a consolation goal through Jill Tillyer saw the game finish at 5-1 to the Blues. James Muir (2), Daniel Otterway, Bret Weavin and Oliver Sivyer scored for the Blues.
Under 14s Red Division
PEWSEY Vale drew level on points with leaders Bradford on Avon following their home win against Melksham Park.
Zak Mayer and Will McLintock gave Pewsey a 2-0 lead at the break, with Mayer, Max Wood and George Woodall scoring in the second half to win the game at 5-0.
Under 13s Blue Division
AMESBURY Juniors moved to within one point of leaders Trowbridge Wanderers, with a game in hand, following their home win over Castle Combe Colts.
The game was close throughout, but Amesbury took their chances well going in 2-0 up at the break and finishing 3-0 winners. Jack Gentle and Chris Fower (2) scored the goals.
Under 13s Green Division
FC CHIPPENHAM played hosts to South Newton and Wishford IN a mid table clash.
South Newton took the lead in a fiercely contested game with Patrick Lynn equalising before the break. The game continued in a very competitive manner but a goal less second half saw the game end all square at 1-1.
