WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: PREMIER Division leaders AFC Stratton got back on the winning path with a 3-1 away success over Malmesbury Vics but were made to struggle at times in the second half.

The visitors were two goals up following strikes from Justin Lowe and Gerry Wright and they could well have added to their tally with better finishing.

The home side pulled a goal back with a good finish from Paul Wilkes and the Swindon side began to struggle as the Vics pushed forward looking for an equaliser.

But with five minutes to go, Gerry Wright scored a third to settle the nerves.

Title contenders Trowbridge Town were in action at South Marston against Wroughton who had one of their best games for weeks despite going down 3-0.

Aldbourne caused an upset, beating Biddestone on their own ground 3-1, much to the delight of manager Pete Orsi who said: "The lads were really on the boil and played well."

The home side took the lead from the penalty spot through Jamie Lyons early in the game, but a superb 30 yard strike by Steve Hewlett levelled the scores shortly after.

Just before the break, Tommy Hunt was on hand to tap in following a goalmouth scramble and Hewlett added a second after the interval to make sure of victory.

Chiseldon Castrol gained a well-deserved 2-0 success at Pewsey, Phil Burchell scoring both goals to chalk up the club's sixth victory of the season.

Struggling Cricklade Town got back on the winning path at Warminster beating the home side 2-1.

Striker Ben Carter got both goals and Dave Watkins was on target for the home side.

Westbury United are enjoying a good run and kept it up with a 2-1 win over Purton Reserves . Simon Pugh netted for the Red House side in the second half.

Shrewton Utd Reserves were awarded two penalties at Marlborough, helping them to beat the home side 3-2. Robin Simpson and Justin Guinerie scored for the home side and Ron Eugine and two spot-kicks from Mike O'Donnell for United.

In the match of the day in Junior Division One, AFC Stratton Reserves failed to halt the good run of second-placed Bromham and were beaten 2-0 by two first-half goals from Danny Powell and Nathan West.

Wootton Bassett United stayed in the title hunt with a 2-1 win over Sherston, Gary Loveday and Ian Curtis with a 30-yard volley on target.

Ferndale Rodbourne were 2-1 down with 10 minutes to go at Cricklade, but scored twice to secure victory .

Biddestone and Marlborough Reserves shared the points in a 2-2 draw and Calne beat Aldbourne Reserves 4-0 on their own ground.

Swindon Asians beat QT Swindon 3-0, Ali (2) and Sahota netting and New College accounted for Pinehurst OB 3-1.
