MALMESBURY came away with a vital victory to leapfrog their hosts in the table. Vics dominated the first half and Mitchell was first to go close when his shot was cleared off the line.
From the corner Lester saw his header also cleared off the line for another corner which was then headed onto the bar by a defender before Middle Barton finally cleared their lines.
The vital goal came after half an hour when Mitchell went through on goal but was brought down by the last defender who was fortunate to escape with just a booking. The resulting free kick from 25 yards was superbly curled into the top corner by Dale Townsend.
Middle Barton came into the game and Turner saw his header bounce back off the woodwork.
The second half was dominated by Middle Barton who had a lot of the possession. But they rarely looked like scoring until the last 20 minutes when Jones made two excellent saves.
With ten minutes left Lester had a chance to settle the game but saw his shot well saved and then Mitchell sliced his shot when clear on goal.
