GAZETTE & HERALD: A Calne man who indecently assaulted a woman is to be assessed to see if he is suitable for a sex offenders' programme.
But Ian Sealy was warned that even if he is accepted for the course he could still face a prison term.
Sealy, 27, of Foreman Street, Calne, admitted carrying out the offence between July 1 and July 15 last year.
He also pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault on the same woman on October 9 last year.
Defending, Ian Halliday told a judge at Swindon Crown Court that the pre-sentence report prepared by the probation service recommended his client be assessed for the sex offenders' programme.
He said: "Various options are possibly open aside from custody.
"One option to be explored is whether he is suitable for a sex offenders' programme."
Judge Tom Longbotham said: "It seems there is a fair amount of background, a turbulent background.
"I have no doubt that your client is aware how seriously courts treat this."
Adjourning the case for the assessment, the judge told Sealy: "I want to make it entirely clear to you this in no way ties the hands of the sentencing judge. All sentencing options are open."
