THE Devizes branch of the MS Society, which supports the sufferers of multiple sclerosis in the area, is looking toward to a busy future with former mayor Catherine Brown at the helm.
Mrs Brown, who raised thousands of pounds for MS sufferers during her mayoral year, was elected chairman of the branch at its annual meeting.
She became involved with supporting the charity when her friend and mentor, Rosamund Maurice, contracted the disease.
The new secretary is Janet Carpenter and treasurer is Caroline Gardiner.
Mrs Brown said: "We are really looking to make the branch take off with a whole range of fundraising events in the next year."
Among planned forthcoming events are a summer barbecue, visits to the Wessex Therapy Centre and various
social evenings. Anyone interested in joining should call Mrs Brown on (01380) 739253 or 07808 987755.
