YET again we have the unelected alleged champion of the elderly claiming to speak for us, only this time he is inciting people to decide their own level of taxation.
Like him, I also disapprove of some aspects of local tax and, like him, most of us pensioners saw service (and action) in WWII and subsequent wars. As usual most of us will uphold the democratic principles for which we fought and pay up.
Many of us live a frugal existence because of past provisions we made and are not entitled to supplementary benefit etc.
We all have recourse to the ballot box if we disapprove of our elected representatives. We can even offer ourselves for election. There is no excuse for refusal to pay but, as usual, most of us will reluctantly accept the results of the democratic process.
