GAZETTE & HERALD: PUPILS from Hardenhuish School in Chippenham tried out some healthy treats with the Channel 5 Dinner Doctor Peter Vaughan at an event organised by Wiltshire Children's Fund at Longleat.
Mr Vaughan was at the event celebrating the achievements of 20 innovative, child-focused groups set up across the county by the fund, in association with children's charity Barnardo's.
The Wiltshire Children's Fund is particularly keen to help youngsters facing difficulties in their lives those in trouble at school, those who find access to clubs difficult because they are disabled, or simply because there aren't any clubs where they live.
Education, health, freedom from crime and improvements to the places where children live are keynotes for the organisation.
Mr Vaughan is working with the fund to promote healthy eating by helping children to create recipe cards as part of the Wiltshire Food Challenge.
The fun-packed day included workshops and activities.
Children used their artistic skills to decorate giant graffiti boards, create weird and wonderful aliens and take part in drum workshops.
The event also launched the Wiltshire Children's Fund new website.
This is a child-focused site giving information to both children and adults and providing a forum for children to voice their opinions.
Wiltshire Children's Fund programme manager Christine Robinson said: "It's been a very challenging but rewarding year with a lot of hard work put in by all, so it was great to bring everyone together to celebrate our achievements."
