CHIPPENHAM NEWS: ST PATRICK'S Day went off with a song and dance for one Corsham school on Wednesday as pupils were treated to their own pop concert.
St Patrick's Primary School, in Lacock Road, is renowned for organising special events to celebrate March 17. But this year staff took things to the next level by inviting Catholic pop band Prophecy to come and entertain the youngsters.
Playing a mixture of contemporary pop tunes and Christian worship songs, the band performed three times during the day, finishing up with a concert for the whole school.
Prophecy visit Catholic schools across the south of England and came to St Patrick's after receiving a call from deputy headteacher Rita McLoughlin.
Headteacher Kieran Loftus said: "At St Patrick's we always do something special to mark the day, but this was the first time we had got a pop group in.
"All the kids had a great time and had the opportunity to sing and dance as there were a lot of songs with actions. It brought about a sense of fun that the children will remember throughout their time at St Patrick's.
"We started the day with a special mass for parishioners and the local community at 9.15am in the school hall. The band played first for the infants and then for the juniors before the main concert at the end of the day."
