Zurich was listed in this week's "Top 100 Companies that Count" supplement, published with The Sunday Times, ranked at 72 out of the 139 companies which took part.
The index evaluates and measures a company's behaviour in relation to the community, environment, marketplace and workplace.
A spokeswoman for the insurer said: "Taking part in the annual CR Index is a fantastic way to publicly report on our approach and achievements, track our progress year on year and identify future strategies and areas for improvement."
David Varney, Chairman of Business in the Community, said: "By participating in the index, all these companies have shown leadership in the open and transparent way in which they manage, measure and report.
"They are at the vanguard of the business community, demonstrating by example."
