PLANS to boost community policing in Warminster took a step forward when the town council confirmed cash to fund the scheme's first year.
With £22,000 in place, it is likely that residents will see a police community support officer tackling anti-social behaviour in the town later this year.
Following a successful one-month trial in the area around the Westleigh Estate in November, police are hopeful of recruiting a full-time officer in the town. The £22,000 sum will cover the project's start-up costs and Wiltshire Police Authority has indicated that the town council will only need to pay £9,000 in future years.
