HAVING to battle through the snow did not put off parents and friends of Monkton Farleigh and South Wraxall Primary School from going to see a children's art exhibition and celebrate a glowing Ofsted report.
On display was artwork produced during lesson time, and the after school art club.
Part of the exhibition was project work done in half-term in conjunction with children's charity Barnardo's focusing on how the children wanted to improve the school for the whole community and parents got their first glimpse of the artwork on a snowy night last week.
The pupils came up with an array of ideas from building a soft play centre to having a new caf on site, a toy shop, and even a school flag.
The exhibition coincided with the results of a school Ofsted inspection in January.
The report said that all children from the smallest in reception to those in Year 6 achieve well and make good progress, whether they are the highest achievers or have special needs.
Headteacher Sue Havranek and her staff were praised for making good provision for the welfare of every pupil, resulting in high standards of behaviour.
The exhibition was organised by the parents association.
Chairman of the group Helen Pocock said: "This Ofsted report shows a village school can be as good, or better than a town school it is a fantastic report.
"It's nice to have proof our children's education is in the best of hands with the staff here."
