A TROWBRIDGE man has been given a suspended jail sentence for not paying his council tax.
Clifford Kennedy, 40, of Chestnut Grove, was found guilty of culpable neglect by magistrates at Chippenham on Monday and ordered to pay £3 a week until the £900 debt is paid.
District councillor Roy While said: "We all have a duty to pay our council tax to ensure local services are available for local people, but there are always a few people who wilfully do not pay and think that this is acceptable."
Anyone who has genuine difficulties paying council tax can contact the council's customer service department on (01225) 770395.
