Highworth boss John Fisher will put friendship to one side for 90 minutes when Hungerford arrive at the Elms for an eagerly-awaited Premier Division encounter.

Fisher renews acquaintances with his former managerial colleague Gary Ackling now boss at Hungerford.

The pair co-managed at Wollen Sports, Hungerford and Witney and remain close friends.

"We're still good mates and we speak to each other just about every day," said Fisher. "Gary lives in Highworth and even drinks in our clubhouse.

"There will be rivalry for 90 minutes but after that we'll have a drink in the bar."

The recent fortunes of the two teams are exact opposites, with Highworth securing their first win in eight in midweek a 1-0 triumph over Bicester and Hungerford dropping points against struggling Pewsey and Tuffley in their last two after a seven-game winning streak.

"I'm probably looking forward to the game more than Gary is after our results this week," said Fisher.

"We needed that win and hopefully it will start us on the road to another good run."

Striker Pete Macklin is set to start his first match in six weeks following suspension, but Sean Terry misses out after twisting an ankle again.

Winger Dave Gee is away on a snowboarding holiday.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, relegation-threatened Wootton Bassett bid to claim back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they host Hook Norton.

Following the 2-1 triumph over Shortwood on Tuesday, manager Pete Yeardley said: "Victories that come in ones are no good to us now we need consecutive wins."

Yeardley hopes to name an unchanged side although there are doubts over Mark Vaughan (knee) and the availability of Steve Dixey.
