WARREN FULLER could be the man to fire Purton to the Division One West title according to manager Alan Clark.
The former Highworth star has been been playing Sunday League football for Nine Elms this season after a spell at Supermarine last term failed to work out.
But the striker has ended his year-long semi-professional exile by signing for the Red House outfit and his new boss is backing him to play a major part in the run-in.
"Warren is a really big signing for us," said Clark. "He is a natural goalscorer which is what we've been lacking.
"Warren said to me 'If you had someone to put the ball in the net you'd have won the league by now' and he's probably right."
Fuller may have to wait to make his debut, however.
Leaders Purton travel to second-placed Ross Town for a title crunch tomorrow and the forward's availability is in doubt.
Fuller, a chef by trade, has work commitments tomorrow night but Clark hopes to arrange transportation to rush his new signing back to Swindon after the game.
His presence in the starting line up will be a welcome boost for a Purton side showing signs of nerves.
A 10-point lead at the top of the table has been whittled down to six and Ross have two games in hand, though Purton's superior goal difference puts them in the box seat.
"From our point of view it's vital we don't lose the game," said Clark, who could welcome fit-again Alan Webb back to the starting line-up.
"But we won't be playing for a draw we are not the sort of side can sit back and defend. We'll be going for the win."
Shrivenham will be the major benefactors if the top two draw.
Alan Dyton's side remain third in the table ahead of the visit of in-form Winterbourne.
"It's going to be a tricky game," said Dyton. "Winterbourne have come from nowhere to join the leading group and we will have to play a lot better than we did against Adderbury last week to get a result."
The return of Doug Imrie gives Dyton a full contingent of players for the match.
Meanwhile, Dyton takes charge of the Division One West representative side to play their East counterparts on Wednesday evening at Wantage.
Division One West provisional squad:
Chris Webb (Shrivenham), Paul Tassel (Witney), Paul Wright (Ardley), Gaston Gueui (Ardley), Teg Jones (Shrivenham), Mark McMeekin (Purton), Jamie Clark (Witney), Toby Clark (Purton), Neil Drewitt (Headington), Tristan Lawrence (Ardley), Tony Bott (Ardley), Martin Phillips (Headington), Graham Robinson (Ciren Utd), Kevin McDonnell (Ross), Kenny Hughes (Purton), Nathan Holt (Shrivenham).
