CALNE TOWN'S three-match winning run came to an end in Somerset as Kelvin Highmore's depleted squad lost 3-1 to Street in the FIrst Division.

The Bremhill View boys were already missing the likes of Gary Banks, Dave Hunt and Robbie Lardner for the trip and Glen Armstrong and Kevin Banks were also forced off during the game through illness and injury respectively.

Calne goalscorer James Lye also failed to complete 90 minutes as he was dismissed for stamping.

The red card proved decisive as Calne were holding out at 1-1 with 20 minutes before losing a man.

Lye had fired the visitors ahead from the edge of the box after a reverse pass from Armstrong in the first half.

Danger man Damon Palfrey levelled early in the second period before Lye was ordered off.

Dean Loxton then struck twice for the hosts, though both goals smacked of offside.

Disgruntled boss Highmore said: "The sending off was the deciding factor.

"Before that we were defending well and looked comfortable.

"Then we lost the game because of two poor decisions. Both of their goals after the sending off were offside. That's not me being biased they were definitely offside."

In the Premier Division, Melksham lost 2-0 at Exmouth.

Dougie Jane's first-half strike and Paul Pocock's late penalty accounted for Nigel Tripp's men.

THERE will be no Screwfix Direct League representative in this season's FA Vase Final after Bideford were convincingly beaten in the second leg of their semi at Winchester City.

The big-spending Wessex Leaguers cruised to a 4-0 home win to triumph 7-3 on aggregate.

The competition favourites will now meet AFC Sudbury in the showpiece at Upton Park in May.

Sudbury qualified for their second successive Vase final after drawing 1-1 at Colne, winning the tie 4-3 on aggregate.
