Ref. 29640-32SWINDON TOWN chairman Willie Carson believes it is 'onwards and upwards' after the club announced plans for a £20 million new stadium and sports village, yesterday.
The former jockey is confident the good times can return to the club and hopes Town's new home will one day stage Premiership football.
Carson joined Town chief executive Mark Devlin, Swindon Borough Council leader Mike Bawden and Bill Oliver of developers St Modwens Properties at a County Ground press conference yesterday.
If all goes to plan, the old Shaw Tip site in West Swindon could become home to a 22,000 all-seater football stadium in time for the 2006-7 season with numerous other sports facilities also provided.
Carson said: "I hope we can see a project develop that the people of Swindon can be proud of.
"For Swindon Town Football Club, it's onwards and upwards I hope."
