Ref. 29627-6TWO care assistants will be treading on hot coals this weekend in a bid to raise cash for the comfort fund at the home where they work.
Mother-of-four Jan Vincent and her colleague Emma Collins, who both work at Church View, in Stratton, are in London taking part in a team-building exercise designed to challenge staff employed by Hallmark, the owner of a chain of nursing and residential homes.
A fire walk is part of the programme designed by psychologist Anthony Robbins.
"They thought it would also be chance to raise some sponsorship money for the residents' comfort fund," said Sue Callaby, manager of the home.
They help to look after 42 elderly residents.
"I'll be doing the fire walk myself in October, so I'll be anxious to see how the girls get on," said Sue.
Jan said neither she nor Emma, who has one child, were nervous about stepping out among the hot cinders.
"If we come back with blisters on our feet then they'll just have to give us time off," she joked.
