A TEENAGER was in the neurological unit at Southampton General Hospital this week, following a road accident at Ludgershall on Monday afternoon.
The accident happened about 3.30pm, when a white Volvo 440 was travelling along the unclassified road leading off the A3026 behind Castledown School.
The 1992-registered car left the road and crashed into a large tree.
Paul Inman (17), of Ludgershall, a passenger in the car, suffered head and leg injuries and was taken to the intensive care unit at Salisbury District Hospital.
During Monday night, he was transferred to Southampton General Hospital and he underwent surgery on Tuesday morning.
His condition was described as critical but stable as the Journal went to press yesterday.
His companions were taken to Salisbury District Hospital - a 17-year-old with leg fractures and facial injuries and a 19-year-old with severe facial injuries.
The 17-year-old is from Ludgershall and the 19-year-old driver is from Martin, in Hampshire.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the accident to contact the Salisbury and Kennet traffic department, on 01722 435356.
