THIS weekend was the opening day of the Lower Moor Trout Fishery.
It could not have been a worse weekend to start their season, with atrocious stormy weather conditions.
Despite this anglers turned out in their wet weather gear to get a piece of the opening day action.
If you could cast a line out in the strong winds then there were fish to be caught.
Dr Fred Griffiths came from Wales for a day's fishing and went home with an eight fish bag for 14lb 8oz. The trout size averaged around the 2lb mark with a few brownies caught to 3lb.
Flies being used on the day were pheasant tail nymphs, small vivas, damsel flies and sedges to name just a few.
