GAZETTE & HERALD: Faulty traffic lights caused chaos at a busy Chippenham roundabout on Friday night and Saturday morning, at the junction between Gladstone Road and Avenue La Fleche.
A Wiltshire County Council engineer was working on site, checking the lights on the Friday, until 4pm. But the Gladstone Road lights got stuck on red at some point during the evening.
Chippenham resident Trevor Jones said: "When I passed through in the early hours of Saturday morning and later at 10.30am, I found the lights in Gladstone Road leading to Avenue La Fleche were permanently at red, those in the avenue permanently green and those at the pedestrian crossing were permanently green in favour of the pedestrians.
"Apart from a car park attendant, who was controlling traffic on the crossing, there was no one around in authority."
A spokesman for the county council said it received a call about the faulty traffic lights at 5am on the Saturday. The fault was fixed by 11am.
"The problem was caused by a computer glitch," he said.
