GAZETTE & HERALD: Thousands of pounds worth of conservatory furniture was stolen from Conservatory Sales just days before the revamped business was due to hold an open weekend.
Directors Gordon Greenwood and Paul Clarke were dismayed to discover the new furniture, on display in the showcase conservatories, had been snatched in a raid on Monday night.
And the business, based at the Whitehall Garden Centre near Lacock, is unlikely to succeed with an insurance claim because the conservatories were not locked.
Mr Clarke said they felt stupid for failing to lock them but confirmed the open weekend would go ahead despite the loss and vowed they would not let the criminals push them out of business.
The thieves drove to an access road off the A350, forced a weak gate, parked and broke through a hedge and fence to get into the garden centre.
PC Nigel Williams, of Corsham Police, believes the thieves then walked to the conservatories, picked up the furniture and loaded it into their vehicle.
Mr Clarke said five cane suites were taken, two of which are dark brown, two honey-coloured and one pale.
All had cushioning of a beige and brown with a touch of gold, variously abstract patterned or with roses or poppies.
