ST Joseph's RC Primary School in Devizes is planning to make sport even more exciting and rewarding for its pupils after scooping a £2,160 grant from the National Lottery-supported Awards for All.
The money will enable the school to bring in specialist coaches in gymnastics, dance and basketball, not only to increase pupils' abilities in these activities, but also to pass on their knowledge to parents, staff members and other adult helpers so they can continue to coach the youngsters long after their visit to the school.
The money will also stretch to providing equipment for sports such hockey, basketball and rugby, and transport to venues like Wiltshire School of Gymnastics in Melksham for more specialist training.
Headteacher Barry Hickey said: "We have particularly to thank our PE teacher, Jane Brown, for all her work in drawing up the application for this grant. It will be invaluable to improving children's skill levels and strengthening links with sports clubs in the area."
