Ref. 12486/1MEMBERS of Devizes Badgers, the junior branch of St John Ambulance, have been helped by a fund set up by former mayor Coun Ray Parsons.
The youngsters, who learn first aid from qualified instructors, were given £250 to buy equipment, stationery and uniforms.
The fund was set up specifically for youth groups by Coun Parsons while he was mayor in 2001.
He said: "I am always open to requests, as long as they are for the benefit of young people who live in the local area."
Sarah Banks, officer in charge of the Devizes division of Wiltshire St John Ambulance, said the organisation gave young people opportunities to develop skills and friendship.
St John Ambulance is seeking new volunteers, both adult helpers and cadets.
Anyone interested should contact Sarah Banks on (01380) 723886.
