MY grandmother, aged 90, is a resident of one of the six council care homes.
Since the so-called consultation, when very elderly and deaf residents sat around a large room with the council men at one end with no microphone, she has spoken of little else because all that she could pick up was closure of the home.
It didn't matter that we told her it may not be her home. Imagine her relief and then dismay when the Advertiser named the two homes it would affect, then Coun Dobie said that it was lies. The chance of losing her home is now down to one in four. At least Lease Hill and Pine Tree residents can breath a sigh of relief. If Councillor Dobie has any compassion he should name the homes to close now.
