MICHAEL Green is expecting to be at Hardenhuish for the remainder of the season after his last chance of playing league football this season seems to have fallen through.
Green, who is currently on a month's loan from Southampton academy, has spent a week trying to impress league bosses at the Premiership exit trials but he does not believe he played to his full potential.
The trials were for those players who are about to be released by a Premiership club to strut their stuff in front of scouts from other teams.
"I didn't do myself justice," said Green. "I was in a team full of individuals and to be honest I never got the chance to show what I can do. I think a lot of the players I was teamed with tried too hard and I just could not get in the game.
"After the way I played I am not expecting anyone to come in for me. I would not have done had I been watching."
With the transfer deadline coming into effect at the end of this month, Green's aim now is to stay at Hardenhuish until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old defender initially moved to Chippenham in January on loan. After a successful month's spell he briefly left in an attempt to find another league club.
He had trials at Cardiff City and Swindon Town but when they both ended in disappointment he moved back to Hardenhuish at the end of February.
Now his chances of league football appear to have disappeared, Green is concentrating on the battle for a place in the Conference Two next season.
He said: "I now want to stay at Chippenham until the end of the season.
"I am definitely not giving up on my dream of playing professional football but I may just have to wait.
"As long as nothing happens between now and the deadline I fully expect to be here for the rest of the season.
"I am still young and I have really enjoyed my time so far at Chippenham so I will put everything else out of my head and look ahead to the next eight or so games."
Ahead of tomorrow's match at Steve Claridge's Weymouth, Green believes Chippenham have shown enough to prove they can be a match for anybody.
He said: "Our performance against Crawley has shown that we are no mugs. I honestly believe on our day we can beat anyone in this league.
"For me personally it will be a great experience to play against Steve Claridge but the main thing is to come away with a result.
"I have been very impressed with Steve White during my time here and I am confident we are strong contenders for the new Conference League."
