SCIENCE Week has been celebrated in style at Stonar School with the opening of two new state- of-the-art labs.
The school, in Atworth, held a science open day to mark the completion of the new building, which was opened by science writer and television presenter Ann Grayson.
School bursar Harriet Fielding said: "Science is a dynamic subject at Stonar with the students gaining really good results and these new up-to-date labs are an extension to these superb facilities."
To create the new classroom outhouses next to the school's existing four labs were demolished to make way for a single story extension.
The work was carried out by Bristol-based firm Rok Property Solutions, which donated lab coats to pupils to mark the occasion.
The day was devoted to science demonstrations, seminars and tours of the new building.
Several prep schools were invited along to join in the event and were given the chance to take part in fun science experiments in the new labs.
As a part of national science week pupils from the school also took part in the Innovation Awards for science and technology in Bristol on Friday.
Since September, students have been working on unusual science projects, involving everything from dyes to stretchy sweets.
Twenty-one pupils from years seven, eight and nine took part in the event, returning to the school with a clutch of rosettes.
