RAIL users have been reassured by their MP that a popular train service from west Wiltshire to London Waterloo is not back under threat after it failed to show up in the new summer timetable.
West Wiltshire MP Dr Andrew Murrison has received several calls from passengers asking why the service had not been included in the new timetable issued this week.
At a meeting of the Western Rail Passenger Committee in Trowbridge last month, Andrew Hains, managing director for train operator South West Trains, said his company would take on the service in May, saving it from being axed.
Users of the service travel daily from Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge and Warminster direct to London Waterloo.
The Wiltshire Times launched a campaign last year to put pressure on the Strategic Rail Authority and the Government to keep the service.
The SRA has said it recognises the strength of support for the service and will now draw up a contract formally awarding the franchise to South West Trains.
A spokesman for South West Trains said: "Obviously the service will carry on but it's just a matter of getting the contract ready and signing it."
