A BRADFORD ON AVON man is planning to roll a beer barrel from pub to pub around the town this summer, in memory of a friend who lost her battle against cancer.
Town councillor Peter Leach's wife Jaqui's close friend Jenny Marsden died of cancer last month, after a 10-year fight.
She was treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey, the UK's leading comprehensive cancer centre, which has just launched a drive to raise £30 million to keep providing day care services and funding cancer research.
Mr Leach said: "Right to her last days the staff never faltered. It would be wonderful to raise some money to give directly to the staff on Chevalier Ward."
Mr Leach is now mapping out a route to include all 19 pubs in Bradford. He said: "We have set a date for July 17 and got police permission but we still need to work on the route and confirm timings of where we plan to be when.
Butcombe Brewery has agreed to supply the barrel and some free beer and Mr Leach has planned a finish at The Three Horse Shoes, on Frome Road.
Anyone interested in taking part, offering sponsorship, or helping organise the event can contact Mr Leach on 07813 245686.
