CALLING all former members of the RAuxAF Defence Force which was based at RAF Lyneham from 1986-1994.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of our disbandment and I am keen to hear from members interested in attending a reunion in October this year.
The Defence Force at Lyneham was one of four created to assist in the defence of key UK air bases. Reaching a high level of competence in fieldcraft, combat patrols, nuclear, biological and chemical warfare (NBC) skills, emergency rescue and firefighting, the 100-strong Lyneham force won the coveted Robins Trophy as best auxiliary unit in 1993, helping RAF Lyneham to achieve a high rating in its Tactical Evaluation exercises.
To assist in planning the reunion, former members are asked to contact me by phone or letter as soon as possible, indicating their interest or any other ideas.
