POLICE officers and detectives in Trowbridge are on track to move into their new £2m station this summer.
Building at the Polebarn Road site is on schedule, with engineers expecting to be finished by mid-summer.
Trowbridge Inspector Glynn Hookings told town councillors his officers would start using the site in May for parking, to cope with the ongoing congestion problems at the temporary station in Parade House, Wicker Hill.
But officers will not be able to move in until at least two months later.
Created out of red brick and white steel, the station design had to overcome a barrage of criticism to get through the planning process.
An open plan office design will mean detectives and uniformed officers can work closer together a move welcomed both by Insp Hookings and new Detective Inspector Marion Deegan.
Parking problems have been rife at the temporary Trowbridge station in Parade House, with officers often left with nowhere to park their vehicles.
