ONE wily old pro with aspirations of managing in the Football League meets another when Chippenham travel to Dr Martens League money-bags Weymouth tomorrow.
Bluebirds boss Steve White will cross swords with Terras counterpart Steve Claridge as Chippenham bid to upset their high-flying hosts and retain their place in the play-off zone.
There are many parallels to be drawn between the two managers.
Both are forwards with long and distinguished playing careers.
Both have made cameos for their sides this season, though White's 15 minutes at Moor Green were not quite as significant as Claridge's 19 league goals which make him the Premier Division's top scorer.
And both have made no secret of their desire to return to the pro ranks as a manager, with Claridge recently linked to the post at his former club Cambridge United.
Former Swindon star White said: "I've played against Steve many times when he was at Cambridge and he hasn't changed.
"He still plays with his socks rolled down but he's been very effective.
"There are similarities between us but I wish I had the sort of money he has had to spend at Weymouth this season.
"They will probably see this match as three easy points but the game is just as important to us as it is to them because we want to stay in the play-offs and we need at least three more wins to do that."
White's only fitness concern remains midfielder Mark Badman who continues to struggle with a hamstring problem.
He is unlikely to be risked from the start, but White has a fit-again Ellis Wilmot and Ian Herring waiting in the wings to cover.
White is expected to dust his boots off again to appear in a charity game in aid of Kandu Arts at Hardenhuish Park on Sunday.
He is set to play for the Kandu Arts team against Sky TV's Soccer AM side which should feature presenter Tim Lovejoy and several ex-professionals.
Kick-off is at 1.30pm.
