WILTSHIRE Youth Arts Partnership is to receive a £24,000 cash boost to fund a one-year dance project.
The partnership learned this week that it has been awarded £19,000 from the Grants For Arts Award which is part of the Arts Council South West.
It will also receive £5,000 from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
The project, called Zero Gravity Wiltshire, will target young people of all abilities aged 13 to 21 and a network of youth dance groups will be developed across Wiltshire, including Wootton Bassett, Chippen-ham and Salisbury.
The project will be run with Wiltshire County Council Youth Development Service, Swindon Dance and the Arc Theatre in Trowbridge.
Wiltshire Youth Arts co-ordinator Angela Stribling said: "This exciting award will help to create a youth dance network for young people all over Wiltshire.
"This project will fill the gap in youth dance activity in the county."
The dance groups will work towards showcase events, including DanceX-Press , Wiltshire's Youth Dance Festival which will take place on July 24 and 25 at The Arc Theatre, in Trowbridge.
DanceXPress is now in its second year and, after the success of last year's one-day event it has expanded to two days.
