VICTORIA News in Victoria Road, Old Town, has been selling sweets since it opened 26 years ago.
Manageress Lesley Jackson, 37, has worked there for two decades.
Because the shop is not particularly close to any schools, traditional children's favourites such as Smarties do not sell as well as they do elsewhere, but that is more than made up for in sales of chocolate products such as Kit Kats and Mars Bars, which can easily be eaten by people on the move because they are not crumbly.
Lesley estimates that about 30 bars of each are sold per day to busy people. She has also seen many brands come and go in the ongoing war between manufacturers.
Lesley said: "We see different packaging and different names and items are also renamed, such as Snickers bars, which used to be called Marathon, and M&Ms, which used to be called Treets.
"We often have people coming in and asking for sweets which are no longer available."
One example is Old Jamaica a rum and raisin chocolate bar which was very popular in the 1970s before vanishing from the shelves. It was available for a period last year but seems to have disappeared once more.
