DOZENS of foster children across south Wiltshire will be receiving extra Easter eggs this year, thanks to staff at Salisbury district council.

Each year, members of the council's personnel department turn into Easter bunnies to persuade their colleagues to donate Easter eggs for the cause.

This year, staff have been even more generous, collecting an eggcellent total of 87 eggs so far.

On Monday, personnel team members Kate Yarde and Ruth Carr delivered the eggs to the social services offices in Salt Lane, Salisbury, ready for social workers to distribute to local foster homes over the coming week.

Ruth said: "I should like to say a big thank you to all my colleagues for being so generous this year.

"We have been doing this for five years now and this is the biggest total of eggs we have collected yet.

"I really hope the children enjoy the eggs and have a fabulous Easter."

Salisbury district council's portfolio holder for resources, Sheila Warrander, said: "I should like to say congratulations to Salisbury district council staff, who support many charities throughout the year, every year.

"I am sure this collection of Easter eggs will be greatly appreciated by the children who will receive them.
