Ref. 29390-7EVCTION FEATURE: RANTING amputee David Lewis was branded Mr Nasty by neighbours at David Stoddart Gardens, in Gorse Hill.
The abuse got so bad that Swindon Council decided to try to evict him, and obtained an order at Swindon County Court on March 2 giving him 48 hours to leave the sheltered housing complex.
Mr Lewis, 62, who is partially sighted and has no fingers on one hand, was accused of shouting racist abuse at warden Kevan Colanis and misusing he home's intercom system.
Other residents, many of whom are in their 80s and 90s, were left traumatised by Mr Lewis' shouting, much of which was done while drunk.
An injunction had been put on Mr Lewis at the same court on February 16, banning him from threatening or shouting at residents. However, he broke that order within two days.
Mr Lewis left David Stoddart Gardens quietly on March 4, and has since moved around bed and breakfast lodgings in Swindon. He also has family in the town.
Speaking to the Evening Advertiser, Mr Lewis said the death of his 23-year-old son Terry, who died in 1989 after being hit by a car in London, had set him on the path to ruin.
Mr Lewis had owned a second-hand shop in Victoria Road, but in his grief after Terry's death he turned to drink.
