SWINDON Town star Steve Robinson gave his support to women's football at the weekend by helping out at the club's Ladies Day.
As part of a national scheme to promote women's and girls football, Robinson turned up at Town's Wanborough training ground to give tips from the top.
Around 175 girls turned up aged between eight and 16 years old.
In the morning, Robinson helped take a training session with the girls before they received complimentary tickets to watch Swindon Town v Barnsley at the County Ground.
During the coaching the girls were taught the basics of dribbling, attacking and defending and also played a small-sided game.
Junior Robins and Schools Project Manager Alice Wills hailed the event as a great success, saying: "The day went fantastically well for all the girls that took part.
"They thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
"From meeting Steve Robinson in the morning to watching Sam Parkin score the opening goal, hopefully it will be a day they will never forget."
As well as receiving expert coaching, the youngsters were also given information on how they could join a football club.
The whole project was funded by the Nationwide Supporters of Tomorrow Scheme, which is designed to develop women's and girls' football.
At half-time during Swindon Town's match with Barnsley, Swindon Ladies U14s took on their Swindon Badgers counterparts.
The Swindon Ladies team won the friendly game 2-0.
