Ref. 29743-59A NEW £900,000 nursery has been opened by South Swindon MP Julia Drown.
The purpose-built nursery at Buckhurst Field on Shrewsbury Road, Walcot, is owned and run by the Oxford, Swindon and Gloucester Co-op under the name Imagine Co-operative Childcare.
The nursery accommodates 61 children up to five years old and is designed to be safe, welcoming and stimulating.
"I was delighted to open this wonderful nursery," said Ms Drown. "It is a great resource for Walcot and the Parks. The facilities are first class and anyone can see the thought that has gone into making sure it is suitable for children."
Kay Kane, the manager of the new nursery, said: "The opening has been extremely exciting. I was very pleased to see so many people from the local community taking an interest.
"We are interested in hearing from anybody who would like to bring their children here and because of the design of the nursery we can also cater for young ones at school with after school care."
The nursery will be open from 8am to 6pm weekdays and aims to be affordable for all parents. The Walcot nursery is the third being run by the Co-op after nurseries opened in Cam in Gloucestershire and in Oxford. Another nursery at Rose Hill, Oxford, is due to open this month and a fifth opens in May in Stroud.
