NYTHE Primary School have qualified for the ESFA Sainsbury's under 11 Soccer Sixes finals to be held on April 24 at the National Sports Centre, Lilleshall.
The Swindon school booked their place in the national finals for schools with under 100 pupils when finishing as runners-up in the South-West regional final held at Lydiard Park on Saturday.
The Swindon and Wiltshire champions were beaten 3-0 in the regional final by the competitions longest travellers St Mary's School, Penzance, Cornwall.
Eight county champions contested the South West regional final and were divided into two groups of four games were five minutes each-way.
Nythe won their opening match against Hale (Hampshire) 2-0 with goals from Joshua Ainscow and George Green but drew the next
0-0 with Blewbury (Oxfordshire).
However, a solitary Green goal in the group decider over Somerset's Chew Magna took them into the semi-finals with seven points while Chew Magna totalled six.
In the other group Cornish champions St Mary's won all three games for nine points while Devon's Sampford Peverall with four just edged out Brightwalton (Berkshire) on goals scored.
An extra-time golden goal from Kris Redford then gave Nythe a 1-0 win against Sampford, while St Mary's edged home 1-0 in the other semi-final over Chew Magna with a debatable golden goal penalty.
In the final Nythe had to give second best to St Mary's losing
3-0.
Wanborough bid to make it a Wiltshire double in Lilleshall when they compete in the re-arranged South-West final for primary schools with more than 100 pupils on Saturday at Lydiard Country Park (1pm).
