People living in Marlborough are the most generous in the country.
More than three out of four residents give to two or more charities a year, according to a new survey compiled by the market research company Claritas Acxiom.
In the meanest town - Erith, in Kent - fewer than half the people donate money annually to more than one charity.
Anne Maurice, 82, has been a voluntary worker at the Cancer Research UK charity shop, in Marlborough, for 14 years. She said: "I don't know why we are so generous. We're just very nice here."
But it should come as no surprise to Evening Advertiser readers.
Marlborough residents, along with Swin-donians, have dug deep time and time again to support our appeals and good causes.
The Swindon Cancer Appeal has already got more than £350,000 in the coffers for Macmillan nurses.
