I FAIL to understand the logic of Mr Crowther (Tuesday Advertiser). He wonders what would happen to livestock animals if the world converted to veganism.

It is as though there was some merit in allowing these creatures their short useless lives, terminating in a grotesque death in some abattoir.

Why should an animal be put through this travesty of a life just to fill the pockets of uncaring farmers, butchers and the stomachs of the like of Mr Crowther?

My conscience allows me to watch vegetables dug up and fruit picked. I wonder how many meat eaters could watch the animals being murdered in the slaughtershouse.

My utopia would be all livestock farmers, butchers and slaughtershouse workers forming a long queue at the Job Centre.
