Rory Fallon would enjoy regular first-team football at almost any other club in Division Two but manager Andy King is brimming with praise for the striker's willingness to 'wait his turn' at the County Ground.

The 22-year-old came off the bench to grab Town's equaliser in an amazing 3-3 draw at Port Vale last night but if his 'reward' is another place on the bench at Peterborough on Saturday, you won't find him complaining.

Fallon struck seven minutes from time to help Town complete a remarkable fightback having trailed 3-0 with just over half-an-hour left.

King introduced the young forward at the start of the second half as part of a switch to a 4-3-3 formation.

It paid off handsomely as Town pocketed another crucial point in the quest for promotion thanks to Sam Parkin's 20th goal of the campaign, a rare strike from skipper Matt Hewlett and Fallon.

The County Ground boss said: "At 23 clubs in the Second Division, he (Fallon) would play every week.

"He is a wonderful young man, a very good professional and he is willing to wait his turn.

"When he comes on he's effective. He changed the game against Barnsley on Saturday and he changed the game at Port Vale."

With a three-pronged attack

of Fallon, Sam Parkin and Tommy Mooney proving so effective at Vale Park, King admits he has selection and formation issues to address ahead of Saturday's trip to Peterborough United.

He said: "There is a dilemma there for me and I'll have to give it some thought."

As for Fallon, he is not asking for, nor expecting any special treatment as a result of his performance in the Potteries.

He said: "Sam Parkin and Tommy Mooney have been great for the club this season. You just have to be patient and keep working hard on the training pitch."

Whatever the starting line-up at London Road, King will be looking for two excellent halves, rather than the contrasting 45 minutes' he watched at Vale Park.

He said: "What they need to do now, which they haven't done for three or four games now, is put 90 minutes together.

"That's the target. It isn't always possible but you have to try if you want to get to where you want to be."
